More, please!

36 purses
24 pairs of shoes
21 pairs of earrings
3 watches
and 5 cell phone cases (Yes, you read that right. Cell phone cases. For my current cell phone. Yes, that's correct)

This is a short list of my accessories I currently have crowding and cluttering up my closet. To say I have way too much is an understatement. I admit it, I have an addiction. If you think I am crazy, well, even I can see that. But I will shout it from the rooftops that I am not a shopaholic! And I bet even if you are thinking I am crazy, chances are you have this complusive need to purchase a certain item as well.

Maybe shoes and purses aren't your thing. Okay fine. Ladies, go into your bathroom and tell me how many different types of moisturizers you have? Or what about lotions, body splashes, and perfumes? Scented candles? Men, how many pairs of gym shoes do you have? What about gray sweatpants or black warm-up pants? And maybe some of you out there aren't into clothes and such. So, what about tools for a hobby of yours? Are you a scrapbooker with more paper and stickers than you know what to do with? How about a gourmet chef who loves your cookware and kitchen gagets? Or are you into quilting/sewing and have enough fabric at your house to clothe that entire family from the show '19 Kids and counting'?

Why do we tend to buy more of the things we already have just because we want a new cooler different version of it? We fixate on a few things we love and have the ability to go overboard if we are not careful. I blame amazon.com. That website has EVERYTHING! But let's not point fingers.

As you can see by my inventory, purses are my weakness. I love them. All styles, shapes, colors, and brands. And I am not proud to admit that if you asked me which purse was my favorite I'd have to say, um, the next one.

It is the classic "it's a WANT not a NEED".
We don't need these things, we just want them. For example, Ladies, you don't NEED anymore scented body lotion. I'm pretty sure you'll be smelling good and flowery fragrant well into the next decade. But chances are you'll probably buy more before you run out of what you currently have.

Now I think we can all agree that women are definitely more susceptible to this form of overindulgence. So let's examine the men in our lives. My husband has had the same wallet, winter coat and even pair of jeans since I met him 6 years ago. Well, maybe he isn't a good example. We're talking about a man who has eaten the same kind of breakfast cereal and orange juice every single morning since he was in high school. He may not be part of the norm, even for men. But my point is most men may not fit into this category of binging and if they do it's with just maybe 1 or 2 things. Usually their excess behavior lands in the areas of tools, hardware, technology, or athletic gear.

Everyone has a certain thing we just go gaga over. Something we are always looking at in stores or online. What is your weakness? How many do you have? Leave your comments. Help me prove to myself I am not just some crazy bag lady with the stylish cell phone.

  1. I have a lot of costume jewelry necklaces...around 25. But my weakness is my digital scrapbook supplies...I have an Access database so I don't buy stuff twice, ha, and just on the one website I have 3391 kits...with multiple items in them! yikes!!
